Emily Ellis was named Audubon “Conservationist of the Year” 2020 by the Bay County Audubon Society.
Emily has lived on Lake Powell since 1994. She and her husband have spent twenty-four years volunteering with St. Andrew Bay Watch as the lake’s primary UF LAKEWATCH water quality samplers. She is a Co-Founder, Past Chairperson and current Vice-Chairperson of the Lake Powell Community Alliance 501(c)(3) and serves as coordinator of the annual Lake Powell Clean-up. In Walton County, she worked with others to help Walton County homeowners identify and remove invasive exotic plants on their properties.
Emily is an award-winning painter and photographer with a BA from Auburn University and an MFA from the University of South Florida. The photographs of pitcher plants above and underwater fish below are examples of her photography.
