Earth Day – Saturday-April 13

This is a reminder to all of you about the Democratic Women’s Club of Walton County Earth Day event at Camp Helen State Park this Saturday, April 13, starting at 8:30 am with a nature tour by eminent naturalist Dr. John Tobe (two more tours will start at 10:30 am and 12:30 pm).  Bring a chair to enjoy the wonders of Camp Helen and prepare to chat with our ecologically minded vendors. In case of rain, we have an enclosed pavilion (follow the signs when you get to Camp Helen) where our vendors will be. A potluck lunch will begin at noon.  We have the park reserved all day, so come for whatever you can!

As a special treat, Dr. Tobe has developed nature guides for each person who attends the tours (with some left over for those who can’t go on the tours). These are laminated booklets that illustrate the plants and birds you may see along the way, and you can use them to help you identify and preserve Florida plants and birds wherever you may hike or live in this area, as they will be yours to keep free of charge.

We hope to see you on Saturday! If you have questions, please contact our event organizer, Vaughan Greene, at vaughan@vaughangreene.com.  Please also circulate this email to interested friends and neighbors, especially in Walton and Bay County.
