In 2016, the Democratic Women’s Club and the Democratic Black Caucus in Walton County came together to celebrate Juneteenth for the first time on the courthouse steps, with cake and ice cream later at the Lakeyard amphitheater. Since then, Juneteen has become a national holiday. 

On Saturday, June 18, 10 am-3 pm, at Defuniak Springs Lakeyard amphitheater we’ll have an expanded set of activities, so come celebrate Juneteenth with the Walton County Democratic Women’s Club and the Walton County Democratic Black Caucus. There will be guest speakers, a reading of the Emancipation Proclamation, children’s games, a Maypole, high school essay contest winners, battle of the dj’s, food trucks, and more!
