As you know, the Walton Democratic Black Caucus and the Walton Democratic Executive Committee  have joined the Democratic Women’s Club of Walton County to celebrate Juneteenth on the steps of the Walton County Courthouse for the past four years. We usually read the Emancipation Proclamation, hear about the history of Juneteenth and Emancipation Day in Florida, listen to political speeches and enjoy youth dance programs, all in celebration of Juneteenth.
Due to the risks associated with COVID-19, we elected to celebrate Juneteenth this year as a Virtual Juneteenth. We produced a video of various members of the black community and of the DWC, the Black Caucus and the DEC reading the Emancipation Proclamation. The Juneteenth 2020 video has been uploaded to YouTube, where you can see it at this link. https://youtu.be/mZWCjHjWSlw
This was the OFFICIAL JUNETEENTH EVENT for the Democratic Women’s Club of Walton County, the Walton County Black Caucus and the Walton County Democratic Executive Committee.
We also held a Virtual Juneteenth 2020 event on Zoom  on Friday, June 19. We’ll be holding more Zoom events in the future, so watch our DWC website and Facebook pages of the DWC and DEC for future events.
We’ll have more YouTube videos of interest to Democrats so check out our channel, WALTON DEMOCRATS, from time to time. We also have a blog at http://waltonblues.blogspot.com that has additional information about Juneteenth and Emancipation Day and about our celebration of Juneteenth in Walton County. We’ll be posting articles about black history in Florida and in Walton County on the blog, so check it out.
